Punta Gallinas is the northernmost point of South America. An adventure in itself to get there. From September to November, during the rainy season, it is even impossible (except by boat). And this is perhaps why the place is so unique. Even if the site becomes very touristy, we feel a real taste of the end of the world. The landscapes are mirific, with a desert that borders the turquoise sea of the Caribbean on one side, and on the other the mangroves that extend their roots in the green waters of Bahía Hondita. From its hospedaje, you can visit different sites: the lighthouse of Punta Gallinas, which is precisely the northernmost point of the South American subcontinent; the dunes of Taroa. Sand dunes several meters high that plunge into the ocean. The place is spectacular. From Punta Gallinas, you can go by boat to Isla Jiworrule ("Island of Love") where you can sleep and eat. Another ride will take you to Punta Aguja and then to Playa de la Boguita, a white sand beach surrounded by red earth cliffs and cacti. This is the entrance to the bay. It is possible to take a lancha to sail in the bay and observe the flamingos. In short, Punta Gallinas will delight adventure and nature lovers. Count on 5-6 hours of 4x4 from Cabo de la Vela. Once again, it is best to check with an agency
