The Passe pass at 2 840 m altitude was reopened for the needs of trade between southern Kyrgyzstan and China. Officially, tourists are still banned at the border crossing and it is still very difficult to move in the direction of China-Kyrgyzstan.On the other hand, it seems that more and more tourists are able to catch the local bus that links Och to Kashgar. And in this sense, compared to the passing of the Col Pass, that of Erkestam is a real happiness at the level of the organization. Time lags still exist, as in Torugart, but taking a bus that knows the precise passage schedules takes you away from the trouble. A bus crosses the pass from Osh to Kashgar via Sary Tash for US $ 50. Departures between p. m. and p. m. on Mondays, Saturdays and sometimes on Wednesdays from the new Osh bus station (6 km outside downtown). But the economy has a price: The journey lasts 18 h and the detailed border searches leave the whole area open to admire the landscape, trying not to freeze on site, especially in winter. Enjoy, because you are here in a splendid wild decor, and on the very route of the Silk Road. Côté Kyrgyzstan, the road then passes through the magnificent scenery of the valley of the Alay, with the Pamir Alay and the Pic Pic, and its summit at 7 134 m in background.
