Away from the beaten track of the RN7, some 15 kilometers before Fianarantsoa, a fork indicated on the left leads to Sahambavy, about 30 minutes further by car (the distance is not long, but the track is bumpy). Not without interest, this locality deserves to be visited, especially if you plan to continue your journey towards the East. The village is served by the railroad line Fianarantsoa-Manakara: the train stops there one hour after its departure from Fianar, in theory twice a week at 8 am (ideal to sleep a little more)! We can take advantage of the stopover to visit the charming tea plantation nearby.
