Archaeological site discovered at Chi Pat in 1984, the only site in the Cardamoms where whole wooden tombs were found
The archaeological site of "La Montagne des Jarres Anciennes" was discovered in 1984 by a villager. Research is still underway to define the significance and origin of the remains unearthed. Numerous jars have been found, and this is certainly the only site in the Cardamoms where entire wooden tombs have been discovered. Preliminary findings suggest that they date from the 16th century. Ask in the village for information on how to get there, and allow several hours on a track in very poor condition.
