Late Hindu temple founded by Yaśovarman in homage to his father, which formed an island in the middle of the Indratataka reservoir.

This Hindu temple dates from the late ninth century and was built by Yaśovarman I, in memory of his late father. The appearance of the monument is somewhat marred by the unfortunate presence of various buildings, including a contemporary monastery. Like the eastern Mebon, Lolei formed an island in the middle of the Indratataka, a huge reservoir (now dried up) of 3,800 m by 800 m intended to supply water to the capital Hariharalaya and the surrounding plains. The visit of this temple can be done just before that of the Bakong.

Pas incontournable

Notre guide nous a fait commencer notre périple de 5 jours par ce site. Curieuse mise en bouche, puisqu'à moins d'être déjà un grand connaisseur de la civilisation khmère, ce site peu évocateur, n'offre ni grand charme ni intérêt majeur.
En général les circuits proposés, tiennent compte de l'ordre géographique, mais pour une première visite on peut oublier ce site.
