Small, partially drained Bârây showing the ingenuity of Khmer hydrologists, where remains and tools have been found
Dug in the middle of the 10th century on the initiative of Kavindrarimathana, minister of Rajendravarman II, Srah Srang is a small Bârây. It has only partially dried up. It's a tribute to the ingenuity of Khmer hydrologists that this basin was filled with water for almost 1,000 years. As with the Mebon, it appears that a sanctuary was located at its center. Numerous remains and tools were found during excavations carried out by Bernard-Philippe Groslier in the early 1960s: probably the remains of workers' camps that worked on the baray.
