Travel Guide Kalacha

Kalacha is about halfway between Marsabit and Loiyangalani. The town can be a stopover for one night. Accommodation options are limited, but not impossible (Gabra Huts, at Fatuma; AIC; Chalbi Safari Resort; Catholic Parish House). And above all, unless you are totally anti-clerical, the charming little Catholic church of Father Anthony is definitely worth a visit. Inside, very beautiful biblical representations were painted by an Ethiopian artist in the 1980s (Alemayehu Bizuneh). Beautiful. From Kalacha, to reach the fabulous desert of Chalbi, count 15 to 20 minutes of road only. Know how to stop in time. Study the terrain regularly while getting out of your car. And don't hesitate to leave your car to continue on foot. We advise you to go there at the end of the day, when the heat is less overwhelming, and to contemplate one of the most beautiful sunsets of your life
