Lavrio is an important port city in the Attica region of Greece. The port of Lavrio is one of the most important maritime hubs in the region, with a remarkable geographical and strategic position. It plays an essential and complementary role to the port of Piraeus and the Attica port system. The port of Lavrio offers a wide range of activities linked to coastal transport, yachting, cruises, fishing and the shopping industry. It also provides shipping links between Attica and the Cyclades islands (Paros, Naxos, Kythnos, Kea, Syros, etc.), as well as with certain islands in the Dodecanese and North Aegean (Psara and Chios Mesta). Lavrio also boasts a rich industrial heritage, being Greece's first industrial town with lead and silver mines and exploration galleries. The town also boasts a beautiful coastline and the Sounion Natural Park, which forms a large part of the municipality.
