50 km south of Hermosillo is the largest natural exhibition of rock art in Sonora: La Pintada. There you can discover some 2,000 petroglyphs and pictograms. According to specialists, the drawings of hands and feet are the oldest representations. But some of the rock paintings are more recent, since they also depict horses and horsemen, which were not known to the indigenous artists until the 16th century.
