Building of strange design, formerly used as astronomical observatory in Monte Alban.
The strange design of this building is precisely what attracted the attention of the researchers and fuelled their speculations. Its northeast orientation is different from the other buildings on the site (north-south and east-west). Its current plan is the result of successive additions, giving it a final shape in the form of a spire: the angular rear façade makes its sides form a geometric figure similar to a pentagon. The orientation of its walls and interior corridors suggest that the building was used as an astronomical observatory.

L’observatoire est une structure centrale de la zone archéologique de Monte Alban. Il est nécessaire de bien prendre le temps d’observer les différentes structures mais le temps passe cependant très vite à admirer toutes ces merveilles.
