The most imposing construction of the archaeological zone, built during the peak period of Monte Alban
This is the most imposing construction in the archaeological zone, reaching a height of over 40 metres. This platform was built during the peak period of Monte Alban (between 500 and 800). Its almost square base (140 meters) is decorated with some steles with Zapotec hieroglyphic writing. On the upper part of the platform there is a patio and two pyramidal bases. It is possible to climb the stairs to the top of the structure. From there, the view of the surrounding countryside is breathtaking.

Vue sur la Plataforma Sur sur le site de Monte Alban
La plateforme sud est également imposante, à l’image de tous les édifices et constructions du site de Monte Alban. Il est possible d’y monter mais l’escalier est très pentu, j’ai préféré m’abstenir.
