Considered as the capital of the Bedik country, Iwol would have been founded in the 13th century. It takes an hour's walk to reach this village perched at an altitude of 440m. From there, the view is breathtaking! The best thing to do when arriving at the village is to contact someone to introduce yourself to the village chief. One of the highlights in the village of Iwol is the presence of a church. Today, the Bédik practice a religion that mixes Catholic and animist practices. The church has not been an easy ordeal. Just imagine the difficulties to fetch the straw and to assemble the frames!
