Travel Guide Île D’egueye

Egueye Island is an absolutely magical little corner of paradise in the heart of the mangrove swamp, but difficult to access for non-motorized travellers. There's a lovely camp overlooking the river. Early in the morning, you may be lucky enough to spot harnessed guibs or serval, a cousin of the cat. In any case, keep your eyes peeled for the myriad of birds that inhabit the island. To get to this piece of land, get dropped off by a taxi-brousse on the road between Oussouye and Cap Skirring, at Diakène Ouolof. From there, Abdou Ndiaye or one of the villagers can pick you up and organize your crossing by pirogue.
