This site can be explored by several routes, the most popular of which is the Main loop trail, a 1.6 kilometer
Bandelier National Monument has over 70 miles of trails within its boundaries and many more that connect to adjacent Santa Fe National Forest lands. If you're in a hurry, you can just do the Main Loop trail and allow an hour to visit the park, but you can easily spend several hours or even a full day if you decide to hike the park, which has more than 110 miles of walking trails. Be careful when you go hiking as there are almost no watering holes along the way.
Main loop trail , 1.6 kilometers. The most popular trail. Fairly easy (a few ladders to climb along the way), it allows you to get a closer look at the many remains. A path of a few hundred meters more will allow you to discover a site in height, offering you a beautiful view on the surroundings. Beware of people prone to vertigo for this last section, but it is easy to walk and easy to access.
White Rock Overlook offers a magnificent view of the Rio Grande.
Camping is available there, for only about ten dollars a night. There are a total of three campsites, accommodating up to 50 visitors at a time.
The days when admission to the park is free are January 16, April 22, August 4, September 23, and November 11.
