The Visitor Center is also the ideal place to observe elk, which are often present at the end of the day. Volunteers position themselves on either side of the road to direct traffic, as elk are not known for warning before crossing. That's why you'll often find traffic jams! Right next to the Visitor Center is the historic village of Mountain Farm Museum, with its vintage farms and cabins.
