This memorial consists of a circle on the ground about two metres in diameter in which the hurricane is represented, and a black granite wall on which the names of the 131 dead and 41 disappeared on the Mississippi coast on August 17, 1969 are engraved. The church that stood next to Hurricane Katrina was destroyed on 29 August 2005.
