The two islands forming Ship Island are approximately 11 miles from Gulfport and Biloxi. Only West Ship Island is affected by this excursion. We come to the ferry to enjoy quiet areas, picnic, explore and relax. The attraction of West Ship Island is Fort Massachusetts, a beautifully preserved fortification between 1859 and 1866. The National Park Service offers guided tours in season.
