Dete is located about fifteen kilometers from the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway and about twenty kilometers from Main Camp. The small town of Dete has existed since the construction of the railroad. Although it is close to Main Camp, its tourist interest is limited. Travelers passing through will find grocery stores, a post office, a police station, and a gas station. Residents avoid walking too much in the village at night because of the proximity of the park and its wildlife. Shared cabs run between Dete and Cross Dete at the intersection with the main Victoria Falls-Bulawayo road.
