The scenery was fantastic, but we were disappointed by the level of service provided by The Hide. Here are some examples:

1. Our transfers to and from The Hide were very disorganized. On the way back from safari, the driver was over an hour late to pick us up, leaving us standing in the 95 degree midday heat with no communication whatsoever on when they would arrive. When I discussed this issue with the Hide, they offered to send a refund on the transport. It's been almost 6 months since they offered a refund, and any time I email to ask when it will be coming, they say they're having issues sending money out of the country. I'll bet they're not having any issues accepting money though! Technically, the transport was done by a third party company, but we paid The Hide directly for it. The fact that they have taken no responsibility for making this right is telling, and it fits in line with our other experiences with them.

2. We felt that the staff were not responsive to requests we made. For instance, we asked to borrow an iron and never heard back. We asked to be switched out of a group where the other members were sick and coughing/sneezing on the backs of our heads all day, and The Hide said we couldn't because all the other cars were full, but we saw another safari car go out half empty that same day. As two tall people we struggled with the portion sizes of the food provided, and the seating in the safari car was very tight (knees pressed against the seat in front of you). Felt like being on an airplane. There were a few other things but I have trouble remembering the details six months out.
Overall, we felt that for the money charged, the Hide needs to step up their game and make guests feel completely taken care of. Otherwise it did not feel like a luxury experience.

Our family had the best time, the staff were fantastic and couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Our guide Bongani was an amazing source of information and clearly passionate about wildlife and conservation. The food and service were great and we will definitely return to The Hide in the next few years.

We were a group of 12 and had the camp to ourselves. Coffee and tea delivered to our tent in the morning. Morning game drive led by our guides Kevin and Teo. Breakfast in the bush, back to camp for lunch and down time, then another game drive in the afternoon with Sundowner cocktails in the bush. Dinner at camp. Each meal was delicious.
The guides are outstanding. Kevin and Teo have so much knowledge to share and show a deep concern and respect for the wildlife and the land. We saw more birds than I can name, lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, spotted wild dogs, impala, zebras, warthogs, gnus, cape buffalo, sable antelope, kudu, steenbuck, waterbuck, ostrich. Did I forget anyone?
Every day was an adventure. I always felt safe and encouraged to ask questions. Little details like a greeting with warm face towels upon arrival, hot water bottle tucked in to my bed at night, keen attention to dietary restrictions, so many smiling faces so willing to attend to my every need.
If you're thinking about going - DO IT!

I would recommend this safari Lodge to anyone. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. Everything about the safari was above and beyond. Our guides were fantastic. What an experience to remember.

From the moment you arrive its like being welcomed home by long lost friends. Genuine warmth from all the staff, led by Dale and Tyler who were fantastic. An intimate, magical experience, very relaxed yet exquisite dining, the food was superb in taste and presentation; sitting on the deck overlooking the watering hole. Always something to see and a real treat from the underground tunnel where you can get even more up close and personal. Accommodation is sympathetically designed to make you feel safe yet immersed in the African wildlife - gazing up at the multitude of stars from your shower or listening to lions roar and elephants trumpet in the night (if you are lucky enough!). Innocent, our private guide, had such a depth of knowledge on the flora, fauna and of course animals, along with a genuine smile - what a special experience he treated us to; hour upon hour, which flew by. I cannot imagine a better immersion into African safari. Memories for a lifetime with hopes to return

Amazing lodge. Second time staying here and would stay many times more. Highly recommend!
Our guide Nkosi was outstanding and so knowledgeable. We saw so much game and he taught us so much. Thank you to all the staff and to Angie and Daryl for making it an extra special trip for us.
