PROVINCIAL MUSEUM OF HUNAN
Museum housing some 100,000 historical items, over 700 of which are of national heritage significance
Some 100,000 historical pieces are housed here, over 700 of which are of national heritage significance: bronzes, silks, calligraphy and porcelain, including several masterpieces by artists who succumbed to the bucolic charm of Hunan's landscapes. But the highlight of the museum are the archaeological relics from the Han tombs of Mawangdui, and in particular the mummy of a woman: Xin Zhui, now 2,000 years old. An interesting visit.
