PARC NATIONAL HOHE TAUERN

The park extends over the states of Tyrol, Salzburg and Carinthia, along the eastern Alps in the Hohe Tauern massif. Founded in 1981, it is the oldest and largest national park in Austria. It is on the Unesco tentative list in the category of natural heritage. Among the many hikes that can be done from Matrei, mention should be made of the Zedlacher Paradise hike, which is really fun to do with the family!
