CAVES OF 1000 KIZIL BUDDHAS

An extraordinary site with over 250 caves, only a small dozen of which are open to the public. For some, they would be before the famous caves of Dunhuang. Despite the fact that many of them have been plundered over the years, the site remains very impressive for the few existing Buddhist frescoes (still remaining…).
