MARIE-MADELEINE CHURCH

The town is famous for the Mary Magdalene Church, which has two towers, a rare feature in Estonia. Another exceptional fact is that since its construction in 1901, it has never been destroyed, burned or bombed. It is also one of the largest churches in the country. It has a seating capacity of 900, 500 on the ground floor and 400 on the upper floor. The organ was installed a few years after the construction, in 1939, and it is probably the last one built before the war in Estonia.
