80 kilometers north of Concepción, this river with crystal clear waters and lined with small beaches, is known to be one of the most beautiful natural sites in Paraguay. Some do not hesitate to compare it to Bonito, the "capital of Brazilian ecotourism". But here you will meet much less people, even though the "Paraguayan Bonito" has become a fashionable destination. The people of Concepción rush there during the summer weekends, but during the week it is much quieter. The Tagatiyá arroyo, which has two main arms (Tagatiyá Guazú and Tagatiyá mí), is born in the Serranía de San Luis. It passes through the district of San Alfredo, before flowing into Río Paraguay. The river passes through limestone soils, giving a beautiful transparency to its waters (except in case of heavy rains), with magnificent green and turquoise hues.
