CARNAVAL ENCARNACEÑO

Carnival is celebrated all over the country, but the most important is in Encarnación. The Corsos Encarnaceños take place over four consecutive Saturdays at the Sambódromo, an enclosed courtyard with a capacity of 12,000. The best neighborhood clubs parade down a long track surrounded by bleachers, competing in various categories, including the election of the Carnival Queen. Colorful shows thrill the audience to the rhythm of the batucadas. The party also takes place in the streets and on the beach, with huge foam and water battles.
