EXPO FRUTILLA

Food lovers beware: the annual strawberry festival(frutilla) takes place over a period of around three months, between July and September, at the peak of the harvest. Producers in Areguá's compañías (rural areas) offer baskets of strawberries and all kinds of by-products: juices, batidos (milkshakes), liqueurs, jams, ice creams, crumbles and other pastries, at very affordable prices. The town is very lively at this time of year, especially on Sundays, with concerts, dance performances and other artistic presentations.
