The Mercado Cuatro (or Mercado 4) is the capital's most famous market. With its labyrinth of aisles lined with dozens of overloaded wheelbarrow pushers, it stretches over several cuadras between Perú, Pettirossi and Dr Francia avenues. A noisy market, full of smells and colors. ¿Adelanteque busca? The stalls are grouped by type of product: fruit and vegetables, yuyos, fish, electronics, woollen clothing ("Feria de los Bolivianos")... The film 7 Cajas, shot on location, wonderfully illustrates the atmosphere of this picturesque market.

Ce marché gigantesque est fascinant! Pour s'y rendre les bus inscrit "Mercado 4" sont fréquents. Il faut tout de même prévoir d'y passer la matinée afin de profiter des nombreux dédales et d'apprécier les produits vendus. On trouve ici de tout aussi bien pour manger que pour la maison! Attention tout de même aux affaires perso, il vaut mieux éviter les gros sacs, la foule est assez dense par endroit.
