Asunción's first municipal market (1940) is nicknamed "El Mercadito". Although this small market doesn't offer nearly the produce and frenzy of the famous Mercado 4, it remains a benchmark for popular Paraguayan cuisine. The setting is very typical, with long tables in a row, under fans, where you can eat in the company of a worker or bank employee. You can treat yourself to a delicious caldo de pescado, milanesa de surubí or vori vori de pollo, served of course with a good portion of mandioca.
