KLOSTER MARIASTEIN - MARIASTEN ABBEY

Also known as Notre-Dame-de-la-Pierre Abbey, it is fascinating by its flamboyant Gothic architecture. The pediment as the interior is richly decorated. According to legend, in the th century, a young boy vacher party would have miraculously avoided falling from the top of a cliff thanks to the divine appearance of the Virgin Mary. His parents would then have built a small chapel, where Chevalier Thüring Reich von Reichenstein was miraculously cured in 1541. The chapel grew, until the arrival of the Benedictine monks who built here Abbey 1647.
