Cemetery containing over 4,000 graves where heroes of the Colonial and American Civil Wars are buried.
This cemetery is one of the oldest and most emblematic of New England's colonial past. The first British settlers arrived in the Portland area in 1632. The cemetery became public as early as 1688 and remained in operation for nearly 200 years. It contains more than 4,000 graves, three-quarters of which have no (or no longer) names. Heroes from the Colonial Wars and the American Civil War are buried here. The oldest tomb dates from 1717 and is named after Mary Green, who is believed to have arrived in the area in 1690.

Beau cimetière ancien, intéressant pour comprendre l'arrivée des premiers colons. A faire si vous passez dans le coin.
