More than 20,000 petroglyphs left by different Indian peoples are found at the foot of the volcanic escarpment
At the base of this volcanic escarpment located a few miles west of Albuquerque, various Indian peoples have left more than 20,000 petroglyphs carved into the basalt. Although most of these inscriptions were executed after the 14th century, some are much older. These stylized drawings are sometimes recognizable (animals, men, marks, crosses...) but their interpretation differs according to the tribes.
