Turquoise Trail is a 47-mile scenic route from Santa Fe to Albuquerque on Highway 14
This 47-mile tourist route connects Santa Fe to Tijeras via Hwy-14 through beautiful landscapes dotted with old mining towns. We advise you to stop in Madrid, a lively bohemian village. In the last few miles, a fork in the road on Highway 536 is possible to get to the top of the Sandia Mountains (Sandia Crest, alt. 3 255 m). Count 30 miles round trip but the view is magnificent. The Tuquoise Trail has been used as a film location for many movies, including the mythical Easy Rider (1969).
