Created in 1979 when the Santa Rosa Dam was put into operation, the original name of the lake that makes up most of this State Park was "Los Esteros" (which means pond or estuary in Spanish). The park has a visitor center, several campsites, picnic areas, and of course, many water activities. The lake is 6.5 km long, 4.8 km wide and reaches a depth of about 12 meters.
