Lela is a ghost town where a few houses remain but where all economic activity has disappeared for many years. As you drive through town, you can still see the red brick school building (corner of Maple St and 2nd St) with a historical marker in front of it. Lela is reached from Shamrock by following the Frontage Rd (Route 66 from 1920-30) and crossing the bridge over the highway at exit 157. To reach McLean, return to the Frontage Rd south, follow it to exit 146, cross the highway bridge and return to the Frontage Rd north to McLean.
