Founded in 1969 by Dan Evins, Cracker Barrel (Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc.) is a chain of restaurants combined with a Southern-themed store. The food is good, and the offerings are a nice change from the usual burgers and fries. Try the baked bean bowl with country ham, for example, or the grilled catfish filet (avoid the same fried dish, which loses its flavor). Of course, the more classic pork and chicken dishes, as well as salads and sandwiches are also present.
