In 1924 Anton and Juliette Andersen opened the doors of what became a Santa Ynez valley institution. Originally Danish, Anton had worked at the opening of the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles and wanted to change his frame. His wife Juliet, from eastern France, followed her in this project thanks to her cooking skills. She developed the recipe for the famous soup of broken peas… Today the owners of the place changed and the restaurant became more tourist. But Bad Soup Andersen's is a slice of the region's history. We appreciate the rustic interior, the mini museum and the artisanal bakery.

Came here to mark the abdication of Queen Margrethe II (Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid). Only to find out to my great sorrow that Andersen’s is now closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Feel good comfort soup, it really helped me with nausea from traveling. Ryan was a big help and made us feel welcomed.

Has seen better days. Soup more salty with no ham to be seen (the way I know green pea soup). Service was pushy.

Well, who doesn't like Andersen's amazing split pea soup. The fact that it's vegetarian is another plus! Kitsch, old fashioned, filling and superb! Don't ever change.
