Also known as Per Bastet in Ancient Egyptian, Tell Basta in Arabic, this ancient city was the capital of the 18th name of Lower Egypt, the Upper Royal Child of the South. The 18th and 19th nomes correspond to the ancient 13th nome divided into two smaller nomes. The capital is dedicated to the goddess Bastet, as its name indicates, in connection with the god Atoum. Paradox of this goddess never represented in ancient temples and tombs, with the exception of Bubastis, in the Delta, it is the most famous Egyptian representation since it takes the form of a cat. Boubastis is located 80 km from Cairo. It can be reached by car.
