Statue in bronze placed at 17 m of depth in the bay of San Fruttuoso.

The Christ of the Abyss is a bronze statue by Guido Galletti, dating from 1954, set at a depth of 17 m just a few meters from the shore at the entrance to San Fruttuoso Bay. The imposing Christ with open arms, his face turned towards the surface, is the protector of the dead at sea and of those who dedicate their lives to the sea (sailors, fishermen, divers...). On the last Saturday in July, a torchlit night procession pays homage to him. Divers have fun "shaking hands" with him, but you can also catch a glimpse of him from the speedboats.
