Abbey nestled in a small cove, at the water's edge.
This abbey is nestled in a small cove on the water's edge. It's an important monastic complex protected by a 16th-century tower, and can only be reached by ferry from Camogli and Rapallo, or by a 2-hour hike. In the 8th century, the inaccessibility of the site and the presence of a spring made it an ideal location for the foundation of a church. In the 10th century, it was rebuilt as a Benedictine monastery. In the 16th century, it became the property of the Doria family. In 1983, the Doria family donated the entire complex to the Italian FAI fund.

Bellissima abbazia raggiungibile solo a piedi o via mare
