The Koushites, having enough duty always to be close to the Nile, sometimes sought to get away from it. We could believe him in Naqa. Some kilometres from the river, a small town had to develop around a well, always exploited by the present nomads. A Naqa is the southernmost architectural testimony of the méroïtique culture. The cultural influences are interwoven with it and mingle in an astonishing way. Access to Naqa is not easy, but the site is unavoidable and deserves a look.
