GOVERNOR'S PALACE (ДВОРЕЦ ДВОРЕЦ)

This palace was built in classical style during the second half of the th century, when Vitebsk belonged to the Russian Empire and was the capital of the eponymous province. During the war of 1812 Napoleon lived in the palace. In front of him is an obelisk commemorating the centenary of Russia's victory over France during the same conflict. Today the palace houses the local FSB office, ex-KGB (which has retained this name in Belarus).
