Moulay Ismaël's granaries and stables at the Meknes stud farm, which, according to legend, could hold 12,000 horses in the century

Be sure to specify "greniers" when you ask for them, or you risk ending up at the Meknes stud farm... Legend has it that these stables could hold 12,000 horses. This suggests that the adobe back wall was built after the complex erected by Moulay Abdellah in the 18th century, and that the stables were once much larger. While Dar el-Ma's vaulted roof withstood the 1755 earthquake, the flat ceiling of the stables collapsed under the impact of the tremors.
