Atypical and picaresque, the "Pearl of the Pacific" has kept its charm of a mysterious port city. It's very simple: Valpo leaves no one unmoved, you either love it or hate it! It is a port whose walls sweat history, that of the earthquakes by their cracks or by their entanglement, that of the sailors and the girls of joy, that of an intellectual vigour never denied. Its labyrinth of alleys, its rattling elevators, the perspectives that change with each step, the incessant aesthetic battle between nature and the city... this whole atmosphere has inspired poets, painters and writers. An absolute myth, today it has become the capital of graffiti and welcomes the new decade with an urban development plan that aims to bring the inhabitants closer to the ocean. Since 2003, the historic centre is part of the cultural heritage of humanity, protected by UNESCO.
