EDIFICIO LUIS COUSIÑO

The Luis Cousiño Building, located between Blanco and Errázuriz streets, was built between 1881 and 1883 by Isidora Goyenechea in memory of her husband Luis Cousiño Squella, a prominent Buenos Aires businessman. The couple was among the most wealthy in the world in the second half of the 19th century, thanks to the mining industry. Unfortunately, a huge fire destroyed the interior of the building in August 1997. Declared a historical monument, it now houses Duoc UC, a private institute of higher learning.
