Temple dominating the surrounding landscape and displaying beautiful sculptures, including a Ganesh dance and a Rajendra piece
The son of the Chola king Raja Raja, Rajendra Chola, built this temple on the model of the Brihadeeswara temple of Thanjavur, after his victory over the kingdoms in the Ganges region. Imposing, it dominates all the surrounding landscape. In addition to the large Nandi (bull), there are some beautiful sculptures, including a dance of Ganesh, and a stunning piece depicting Rajendra I crowned by Shiva and Parvati. The temple resumed its religious activity in 2017. On this occasion, a large pillar covered with gold was placed next to the Nandi.
