ARCHAEOLOGICAL ROOM OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM

The National Museum has a fine archaeological collection. Housed in a 19th century building, its exhibition presents the thousand-year-old past of Niš, even going back to prehistoric times. There is a surprising exhibition of Neolithic art, with statues, coins, jewelry, etc. The most important collection is made up of objects from the Roman site of Mediana, as well as impressive objects from the Byzantine and medieval periods.
