SYNAGOGUE

This old synagogue dating from the 19th century was built on the plans of the synagogue in Prague. A rare fact in this region, victim of the Nazi fury, there is still a notable and quite active Jewish community in the area. This synagogue is therefore still and above all a place of meeting and cultural events for the Jews of Vojvodina. The particularity of the synagogue is the polychrome mural painting on the ceiling, with an atypical content for Judaism: its Hebrew writing is reversed, the text can only be read through a mirror.
