Gandiol is an area with many villages, on the banks of the Senegal River, as far as the Langue de Barbarie National Park. In the past, the Gandiol lighthouse was used to guide boats and pirogues navigating the river. Today, it is one of the starting points for excursions to the park. From Saint-Louis, the Gandiol area is reached by a beautiful asphalt road through sumptuous landscapes to Lompoul. It is not uncommon to come across a few camels along the way, proof of the proximity to the desert.
