Between the southern part of Moremi and Sandvelt, this area of about 2,500 km² is equally divided between concessions NG/29 and NG/30. In recent decades, it has become drier and flooding has decreased in magnitude to the east and north of the delta, the Nqoga and Khwai rivers. Concession NG/30 is moderately floodable. Its neighbour NG/29, to the west, is much drier. Floodwaters reach it around May or June and can be present until October or even November. Grassy plains alternate with, on the islands, copses of slightly bare thorn bushes and tall trees.
