BUDDHA DORDENMA STATUE

From the height of 51 meters, the great Buddha dominates the city of Thimphu. He sits atop a temple decorated with golden mosaics, containing 125,000 small statues of Buddhas. This ambitious project began in 2006: the huge bronze statue, covered in gold, was made in China and assembled on site. This Dordenma Buddha is a success story; the features of his face are particularly fine and inspiring. From its promontory, he illuminates the souls of the valley's inhabitants with his golden light. Moreover, the place offers a beautiful view of the valley.
